Ryan Joel Brown is a composer of both film and chamber music with an eclectic approach that sees him writing music for a number of different instuments and electronics.

He has studied a Bachelor of Music with Honours at the Queensland Conservatorium under the guidance of Gerard Brophy and Gerardo Dirie.  Also a skilled pianist, he enjoys writing for the piano and quite often playing in recordings and performances of his own work.

Starting his university career in classical piano Ryan was too tempted by rock music and playing with bands and also the allure of travel.  He spent several years in Europe working and studying audio engineering and production.  In Amsterdam the classical music bug bit him once again and he began studying piano and composition under American ex-patriot Allan Segal.  With the "girl next door" effect classical music now had on him, Ryan returned home to finish his Bachelor of Music, this time majoring in composition.

He lives in Brisbane and has had worked performed in Europe.
